Week Two of Body Back - Weekends are hard!

I have now come to the end of my second week. Overall, I am feeling strong and motivated during the week to complete my meal plans, track my nutrition, and complete the workouts. But the weekend is a different story. I feel like I am really struggling on the weekends.

I am finding the weekends to be very challenging in terms of staying on track with nutrition. Last weekend we hung out with some friends we haven’t seen for a while and then we helped some other friends move. At the end of the day Saturday, I had 3 beers, pizza, and fried chicken. And then I felt like yuck the next day. I was able to quickly get myself back on track this week. Then last night, which was a Friday night, my husband and I went out to happy hour before going to a concert for a long overdue date night. I chose to have a black bean and quinoa burger instead of a cheeseburger or pizza. But, the 2 glasses of wine were probably not the best choice on top of that.

I don’t want to derail my hard work during the week, by not staying motivated on the weekends, but for some reason, it seems like that is what is happening. Perhaps it is the lack of routine on the weekends, or the larger amount of time to fill. It seems like there is always a little excuse. Such as, it is a special occasion, or we don’t catch up with those friends very often. I really want to try and make it through a weekend without just taking an entire day off from watching my nutrition.

In the last 2 months, I have been getting up early on Saturday morning, and taking my little one for a long run, while I am training for my half marathon. It has been nice as it lets my husband sleep in more, my son enjoys it, and it is starting my weekend with a healthy routine. It seems like I am still struggling to keep the rest of the weekend on track, despite starting it off with a very good workout.

Since we were out late on Friday night for this concert, I couldn’t seem to get it together today to go on my run. The rain did nothing to increase my motivation either. So, my small goal for this weekend, is to try and keep myself on track for the next day and a half, complete a workout, and go into my third week strong! Next weekend we are planning on trying to go camping, depending on the weather, so I will try hard and make our camping meals as healthy as possible.
