Meet Annemarie, one of our awesome Stroller Stride mamas, who also frequents Body Back Boost on the weekends!
Name: Annemarie Thibodeau
Workout buddy/ies and age: Anthony (2.5) and Cecilia (9 months)
Originally from: Toutle, WA (Mt. St. Helens put it on the map in 1980)
Favorite thing about FIT4MOM: FIT4MOM is a win-win. It’s great for the kids and mommy. I love the fresh air, sense of community provided by the other mommies, and getting out of the house! My kids love seeing the other moms/kids and I setting a good example for a healthy lifestyle is important to me.
When did you join FIT4MOM? I first joined Fit4Mom Mill Creek in the spring of 2014 but stopped going once I became pregnant for the second time. When we moved to Edmonds, and after Cecilia was born, I was happy to connect with the Edmonds Fit4Moms community. We rejoined in March this year and after three months I am happy to say I am down 20lbs and feeling much stronger and happier! I love this community and just thinking about it puts a smile on my face!
What is your current job? Or what did you do before staying at home? After 15 years in the financial services industry, most recently as a Director of Branch Operations at BECU, I traded in my business suits and stilettos for a pair of mom jeans when I welcomed Anthony. When I was ready to start looking for a part-time job, Redfin was expanding and I took a part-time job working from home doing some paperwork in the evenings. I love the extra income my part-time job provides, but it is defiantly a challenging juggling day-time mommy duties and evening work deadlines.
What is your favorite food? I have always had a sweet tooth…..would have to say my all-time favorite food is chocolate gelato (which became my main food group while pregnant with Anthony). My husband is the opposite and never eats sugar so he helps me refrain (in the nicest possible way).
What is your favorite beverage? Sparkling water with lime is my go to! I’m loving the plain La Croix currently.
What is your favorite movie? It’s a Wonderful Life always warms my heart around the holiday season. If you haven’t seen it, or even if you have, you should make it a priority to catch a showing around Christmas at the Historic Theater in Everett. There is a meet-and-greet at the end with the actress who played Zuzu. Great date night idea!
What is your favorite book? I adore Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin. I’m not sure how many times I have read it, but it is many, and I’m sure I will read it many more times in the future. Kids book wise we are finding Dragon’s Love Tacos hilarious right now.
You are given four free hours of babysitting, what would you do? SLEEP!
What is your dream kid free vacation? Ahhh…..nothing sounds better than relaxing on a tropical beach. If we were to take a kid-free vacation I wouldn’t plan on doing anything besides laying beachside so it doesn’t even matter where this said beach is located.
What is your dream family vacation? My husband and I both love Disneyland, looking forward to going in 2018 if we can hold out that long :)
How has becoming a mother changed you? I am softer. I feel so much more peace, compassion, patience and acceptance. I believe it all stems from the overflowing love and happiness I feel. I have loosened up, I am less judgmental, I try to let things unfold in their own time and I have way more fun.
I’m happiest when…..I see my two kids interacting in a loving way. Sometimes when Cecilia gets fussy during Stroller Strides, or in the car, Anthony will reach over and grab her hand and sing to her. It’s adorable!
What are three things you wish you could go back and tell yourself before having children? 1) You will really get the most out of each day--all 24 hours in the day as you won’t be sleeping at all 2) update your wardrobe to only partnered clothing as spit up is less detectable on a shirt with a pattern 3) Having kids is really messy….DO NOT buy that nice furniture!
Fondest childhood memory: My two brothers are in every memory that comes to mind. I love being part of our trio and the bond we have that only siblings share. We had lots of good times exploring a small unpopulated island across the lake from the home we grew up in.
I’ve really enjoyed meeting all the “ladies,” as Anthony calls you, during the morning Stroller Strides classes. It will be fun to see our kiddos grow and learn together!
